Better nutrient management in oil seed rape

At the beginning of March, I wanted to plan my Nitrogen application in my oil seed rape field. Given the challenging weather conditions over the past months, I expected my field to be heterogeneous. As I wanted to make sure that my assumptions were correct, I checked what xarvio FIELD MANAGER has to say.

Step 1: Check the current Biomass Map

Step 1: Check the current Biomass Map

After examining the current biomass map from xarvio FIELD MANAGER, I was really surprised. The field was, as expected, totally heterogeneous, but the zones were allocated very differently compared to last year.

Step 2: Compare Biomass and Yield Potential Map

Step 2: Compare Biomass and Yield Potential Map

I contrasted the current biomass allocation with the yield potential map and found a significant difference from the long-term yield potential shown on the map.

Step 3: Use drone to verify field differences

Step 3: Use drone to verify field differences

I still was not sure if the field was really that different this year, so I took my drone and checked. The video confirmed what I already saw in the biomass map. It became evident that this year's allocation showed significant variation.

Step 4: Adapt Nitrogen fertilizer application

Step 4: Adapt Nitrogen fertilizer application

I needed to adapt my Nitrogen fertilizer application. Based on the current biomass map, I created an application map and performed the necessary actions to make my field more homogeneous, taking my nutrition management to the next level with xarvio FIELD MANAGER.
