Optimized fungicide application strategy in barley

It was beginning of April and I was thinking about my barley fields. The disease pressure was high, so I had to do something about it. I already had an early fungicide application but due to upcoming rainy period, I turned to xarvio FIELD MANAGER to see what my next steps should be.

April 6th: Early fungicide application

At the beginning of April, I had an early fungicide application due to high disease pressure and rapid plant growth in my barley fields. However, the rainy days that followed anticipated the end of the application’s effect and required me to consider one of the following approaches.

April 14th: Assessing the application impact

  • Option 1: Should I wait for the perfect timing and leave my plants unprotected?
  • Option 2: Should I do an early final application, risking that effect will end too early before harvest?
  • Option 3: Should I do an intermediate application, risking the additional cost of 30 eur/ha until the ideal final application date?

I wanted to be confident in my decision so I turned to xarvio FIELD MANAGER for guidance.

I took the another look into the details. The analysis confirmed that the risks remained low in the last two weeks and that waiting was the right decision. I could plan my final application properly and have an action window of three days.

With the guidance of xarvio FIELD MANAGER, I was way more confident in my decisions and continued to optimize resources and improve overall efficiency of my crop protection strategy.
